MEET BRANDON

"It has been an honor to serve our great nation and state. My financial background and government service make me the ideal candidate to serve you as Mayor. Our city’s revival can begin this November as we turn the corner and move toward the future."

Brandon Sakbun is the son of Dr. Vannara Sakbun and Mrs. Carlene Sakbun. He was born in Terre Haute and attended public schools in Terre Haute from K-12th grade.

Upon graduating from Terre Haute South Vigo, Brandon attended Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business where he studied Finance and trained to commission as an Army Officer.

The experiences and challenges of Dr. Vannara Sakbun and Carlene Sakbun led Brandon to serve in the United States Military. He is proud to fight for the American Dream. While America has its shortcomings and at times complicated history, fighting for democracy and those who cannot is a cornerstone of Brandon's background.

In 2018, Brandon Sakbun commissioned into the United States Army as a 2nd LT. Brandon spent almost 5 years serving in our nation's armed forces rising to the rank of Captain.
He served in the Army’s Special Operations Ranger Regiment as a Platoon Leader, Executive Officer, and member of multiple Strike Teams.

Brandon has deployed twice with the Rangers and has recently transitioned to the Indiana National Guard. During both deployments, Brandon learned the importance of local governance, working with stakeholders, and negotiating for a brighter future.

He helped create and execute strategic foreign policy  decisions under two Presidential Administrations and managed million dollar budgets focused on organizational growth. But most importantly Brandon learned leadership. He believes we need a fresh wave of leaders and energy to bring Terre Haute into the future.

Brandon believes it is time for us to fight for the future with our actions in the present. It is time for Terre Haute to unlock its potential and it is time for our local government to work for the people.

It is time to believe in our community again.
